Environmental and Sustainability Policy

It is the policy of Camblesforth Solar farm Ltd to manage all of its activities so as to give benefit to society, ensuring that they meet relevant laws and regulations, are acceptable to our customers and the community at large and that their environmental impact is reduced to a practicable minimum. In so doing, the company will ensure compliance with its responsibilities under UK environmental legislation.

There are four areas in which we will positively influence environmental awareness and compliance:

  • In support of our core activities, we will ensure that our process for procuring consumable supplies maximise the use of biodegradable fluids and sustainable raw materials, those that can be re-cycled and those that have already been recycled.
  • We will ensure that our process for disposing of all waste materials allow compliance with applicable legislation / duty of care obligations and maximise the possibility for the segregation of waste that can be re-cycled from that which can’t.
  • We will maximise the efficiency of our use of consumed energy through the adoption of an efficient transport policy for our personnel and controlling the use of our electrical supplies and consumables at premises under our control.
  • We will promote the highest standards of environmental excellence in customer organisations by matching our project environmental controls with the policies of our customers.

Camblesforth Solar Farm Ltd shall:

  • Encourage and promote best practice and continual improvement in environmental performance.
  • Commit to the prevention of environmental pollution and the protection of the environment in relation to our activities, particularly those that are environmentally significant.

  • Setting and monitoring environmental objectives across the business.

Implementation of this policy will be monitored by those carrying out site inspections and audits, i.e., Directors, Managers and the nominated Internal Auditors.

Waste Minimisation

Camblesforth Solar Farm Ltd has laid out above our commitment to good environmental practice. This section expands on that document as it relates to waste minimisation.

The company is committed to sustainable waste management and will continue to develop waste minimisation strategies at our fixed locations and construction sites throughout the UK.

Our waste minimisation goals are to:

  • Prevent and/or reduce waste
  • Re-use materials
  • Recycle waste
  • Send minimum amounts of waste to landfill

To achieve our goals for waste minimisation, the company will:

  • Cultivate a work ethic with a high level of awareness of waste minimisation and recycling through providing advice and guidance to our worker, supply chain, and end users as relevant
  • Encourage the purchase of recycled materials and those that are suitable for disposal by recycling, and conserve natural resources
  • Encourage designers employed by the company to design out waste where possible and give due consideration to maintenance and end of life aspects that can minimise waste
  • Favour suppliers who remove packaging as part of their supply contract and obligations, and who operate according to best available environmental techniques
  • Keep abreast of current relevant technologies available that minimise the generation of waste, and implement where economic and/or practical to do so
  • Minimise waste by encouraging the exchange and re-use of equipment and materials within our business operations
  • Promote economy in the use of paper and the selection of print formats and document styles
  • Develop objectives related to waste to help the business focus on recycling and waste minimisation

The Company will comply with its Duty of Care with regard to waste legislation, ensuring waste is held securely and transferred to those authorised to take it, ensuring the use of Waste Transfer Notes and Hazardous (Special) Waste Consignment Notes to demonstrate safe disposal of all waste in a way that will protect the environment and public health. We will endeavour to manage waste in a cost-effective manner that maximises environmental benefits and minimises long term financial liability.

Carbon Management

Camblesforth Solar Farm Ltd is committed to whole-life carbon management in the successful operation of its activities. The company will go above and beyond legal requirements, as we will strive to quantify and manage carbon emissions during construction and across our value chain. We will demonstrate industry best practice to ensure we leave a positive legacy.

This is a declaration of the company’s intent to ensure that all works are effectively managed, carbon impacts are minimised, and our activities are subject to continual improvement.

To achieve the above, the company aims to:

  • Minimise whole-life carbon impacts.
  • Quantify through the development of a baseline, which will allow for performance benchmarking of contractor activities and suppliers of carbon intensive products and services.
  • Identify carbon hotspots arising from direct, on-site activities and embodied emissions arising throughout the supply chain.
  • Develop KPls for direct emissions arising from business and contractor activities (fuel and electricity) and suppliers of carbon intensive materials (concrete and steel). These KPs are to be embedded in contracts where applicable.

Continual Improvement

To demonstrate continuous improvement, the company will:

  • Regularly monitor progress against baseline and associated KPls to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are collaborating to mitigate carbon impacts during delivery
  • Develop, disseminate and integrate relevant best practices from across the industry to ensure we are operating at the cutting edge of carbon management.
  • Regularly communicate progress and areas of concern relating to carbon impacts internally across project teams and externally across our supply chain to ensure we are on track to meet and surpass objectives.
